An artwork conveys a message, idea, emotion whether- beauty, sorrow, power, motivation, technical proficiency etc. When it comes to artwork there are types of paintings to buy such as lithograph paintings, Pichwai paintings, watercolor paintings, Tanjore paintings etc. Common method of determining whether it is a manual lithograph or an offset lithograph is to look at the pressure under the magnification. Hand lithography marks show the pattern of random dots produced of the drawn surface. Lithography is a planographic printing process in which a design is drawn onto a flat stone (or prepared metal plate, usually zinc or aluminum) and fixed by a chemical reaction.
Another is Pichwai painting was originally painted on handwoven cotton fabric. After that, the artisans drew patterns on this reinforcing fabric. Then beautiful and decorative images were created. The images were then ready to be painted with completely organic and natural colors, paints and even natural brushes. These paintings do not carry any religious motive or belief. The main aim of the art is only ornamental and can be put up on the walls without much ado. Pichwai literally meaning 'that which hangs from the back' from the Sanskrit words "Pichh" means back and "wais" means hanging, are large devotional Hindu painted pictures, normally on cloth, which portray Krishna.
Tanjore Painting is one of the most popular forms of classical South Indian painting. The dense composition, surface richness and vibrant colors of Indian Thanjavur Paintings distinguish them from the other types of paintings. Then, there are embellishments of semi-precious stones, pearls and glass pieces that further add to their appeal. The relief work gives them a three-dimensional effect. Of the numerous steps involved in the making of a Tanjore Painting, the first involves drawing of the preliminary sketch of the image on the base. The base consists of a sheet attached to a wooden base. The second step is to mix chalk powder or zinc oxide with a water-soluble glue and apply it to the substrate. After that, the picture is made and decorated with cut glass, beads and even semi-precious stones. Lace or thread can also be used to decorate the picture. To increase the effect, some parts of the painting are covered with layers of gold gossamer in relief, while the other parts are painted with bright colors that enhance the emotions and the ability of the viewer to understand the message and depth of the art.
